Under the direction of the Oiled Wildlife Care Network (OWCN) Senior Manager – Field Ops, this position, in close collaboration with the Care Readiness Coordinator, leads the coordination of oiled wildlife readiness activities between oil spill responses, including facilitating a shared vision and managing the OWCN volunteer and staff training and appreciation/retention program, overseeing the OWCN responder database, coordinating outreach to Network Member Organizations, and leading public outreach (including social media/printed publication presence, K-12 education program, and public service activities). This position also fills key leadership roles for oiled wildlife during oil spill response, engages in teaching and public service activities, and participates in research to ensure “best achievable capture and care."

Under general supervision of the Financial Operations Manager and COO, one of several positions that serve as a resource to the Institute’s faculty, senior staff, technical staff and administrative team. Provide policy and procedural guidance, and manage tasks related to research grant administration, business contracts, payroll/personnel, accounting, procurement, travel, programmatic administration, and human resources. Interpret, administer and comply with all applicable University, Federal and State policies. Process complex business contracts and purchase requisitions. Perform general accounting transactions including accounts payable, entertainment, travel, honoraria, check requests and other transactions using the university accounting system. Prepare personnel and payroll transactions of over 60 career, contract, limited staff, academic and student employees. Liaison with campus units and external organizations in all areas of responsibility. Serve as part of the Oiled Wildlife Care Network (OWCN) spill response team and/or California Veterinary Emergency Team (CVET), providing administrative support (often on short notice) during emergencies, which may require travel to various locations in California, rotating on and off the spill team. Maintain strict confidentiality to protect privacy and rights of individuals.

SALARY RANGE: $24.66-$35.34/hour
